WI Medical Malpractice Suit Settled for $17.3 Million

The family of a Wisconsin girl have settled their medical malpractice lawsuit against her doctor. The settlement amounts to $17.3 million.

The lawsuit was filed after a surgery to remove the girls spleen went terribly wrong. During the surgery, the doctor cut major blood vessels and severed part of the girl’s bowel.

As a result of the botched surgery, the girl suffered from serious blood loss and permanent brain damaged.

The girl is now confined to a wheelchair. She is fed through a feeding tube, and communicates only through blinking. Because of these disabilities, she requires round the clock care.
